Rehearsal dinners are usually one step less formal than the wedding. A safe bet would be khakis and a collared shirt. A tie would be a nice touch since you're a groomsman, especially if the wedding is formal. You can always bring a tie and sportcoat if you aren't sure and leave them in the car if you don't need them.

At the rehearsal, expect to be shuffled around for an hour or so as they practice the ceremony. They'll tell you who you're escorting in the processional, and where to stand at the front of the church. Then they'll feed you. Have fun!

Dawn

It’s hard to say without knowing what the plan is for after the rehearsal. I’ve been to rehearsals where there was a big fancy dinner afterwards and everyone dressed up for the rehearsal beforehand. I’ve also been to rehearsals where there was a bar-b-q after the rehearsal and everyone showed up in jeans.

Your best bet would be to ask the bride & groom what the plan is for afterwards. Or better yet, ask the groom what he will be wearing and you can take it from there. If all else fails, it would be hard to go wrong in khakis and a nice shirt.

Gertrude

Ask the groom or bride. Attire for the rehearsal dinner really depends on the formality of the occasion. I've been to rehearsal dinners wear everyone was in dresses and the guys were in ties. Our rehearsal dinner is going to be super casual with jeans because we are going to be decorating all day and return to the reception site to continue decorating. I would say if you are going out to a restaurant after then you should have at least khakis and a nice shirt.

you don't have to look very formal, maybe just a nice collared shirt or maybe an old suit
