I know that wedding cakes are made in advance, usually a few days to a week, of the wedding day. I’m wondering if there is something unique about a wedding cake recipe that differs from a typical cake recipe so that the cake stays moist for so long. They want a catholic wedding, one honored by the church, but they want to have a outdoor wedding as well. As Catholic’s are we allowed to be wed outside the church or does it need to be in a church in order to have your wedding blessed by the church?

I don’t want something like a gift basket or regular things like that. I was thinking something along the lines of using a wedding photo and putting that into some kind of gift. What gift can I give that might incorporate my parents’ wedding photo in it? And something better than a coffee mug or t-shirt.

But we would love to accept money as a gift to pay for the honeymoon or put towards a down payment on a house. OK, since everyone is trashing me on the subject, I’m the Matron of honor on this one and I was asking the question for the bride. I dont mean how can I ask for money in a formal invitation, I mean it more like for the shower. I’m going to be sending out invitations for her shower which is going to be a jack and jill and they dont need physical gifts. And everyone is trashing on this subject like she and I are unclassy to think that asking for money is wrong. It’s not like she wants to come out and say “I WANT MONEY” thats why we are asking, how should we got about this?
So if your going to write your unclassy and things like that then dont respond. I’ve seen it before that people note that money is accepted for help with honeymoon and such, welcome to 2009 people!!!

Sugar fondant, in my opinion, tastes and smells like caulking and buttercream is always too sweet and has a nauseatingly grainy texture. Are there any other alternatives to these two for the icing on a wedding cake? I’m having my wedding indoors in early spring so melting isn’t a problem.
